Review: Maia Porpora D3

The company Maia was founded is 2010 and is focused on ‘colors of eroticism’ whilst bringing quality and functionality too. The products are set out by colours, Marcia is bright pink, Porpora is light purple, Confetti is yellow and Astral is turquoise. Sex toys are often pink and black focused so it is refreshing to find a company that recognises the desire for different colours. Some products are available in all colours but others are limited to just one or two. I hope that they will include all the products in all colours.

Packaging: The D3 arrives in a lilac and white box with Porpora along the side. The product is featured on the box but in a much darker purple than the Porpora line is. However there is a plastic window on the front that can be opened to show what the product actually looks like. Included in the box is the D3, a leaflet about Maia products and a purple draw string bag. I presume that the draw string back is whatever colour the product is.

Appearance/Materials: The Porpora version of the D3 is a dark lilac/light purple colour. The D3 has a somewhat tapered head which flares out then back in again which leads to 5 swirled texture. The base is large enough for both harness and anal use. The whole of the dildo is made from 100% medical grade silicone which is great itself but what is awesome is that it doesn’t seem to be a lint/dust collector unlike may silicone toys. On the base is the Maia logo.

Stats:

  • Length: 8.25 inches
  • Insertable Length: 7.5 inches
  • Circumference: 5.5 inches
  • Base diameter: 3.5
  • Oring diameter: 1.75 inches
  • Base type: Flared with Suction

Use/Experience: The D3 in two words, intensely amazing. There is nothing else I could use to simply describe this dildo. The size is large and it can look somewhat intimidating. I usually go for medium sized dildos and honestly thought that I would never be able to take the length. That is what I struggle with most, when dildos are long. I find them to be uncomfortable and almost prodding at my cervix. However with the D3 it stretches your width and your length. When going in it can be quite a shock and I suggest warming up first and using water-based lubricant as this is a silicone toy.

Once the initial shock of the D3 going in was over I relaxed around it and slowly slid down, feeling every one of the swirls. I kept thinking I am going to have to stop soon as it will start prodding, next thing I know I am at the base. The whole thing is inside me, the feeling is filling like I haven’t felt before. I didn’t think it could get better until I started thrusting, my god I was seeing stars. I don’t usually like textured dildos but with the swirls they are subtle and the dildo is a combination of firm yet soft.

Often texture leaves me feeling very sensitive and almost like it’s scratching at me, especially with glass dildos which are solid. With most toys I orgasm once maybe twice, depending on how long I use it. I orgasmed six times before I had to stop because it was just so intense. The tip doesn’t hit the g-spot but the swirls seems to stroke it with an almost come hither motion. Whilst the D3 is amazing, it is also incredibly intense with the size and texture. I don’t want to use it all the time however when I fancy it, wow!

Cleaning/Maintenance: The seam cannot be felt whilst in use and doesn’t trap and bacteria either. To clean I simply wash in warm water with mild unscented soap, rinse thoroughly with clean water and then leave to dry. When not in use the D3 can be stored in the draw string bag provided.

The D3 can be sterilised by boiling for 3 minutes, put in the dishwasher or use a 10% bleach solution. Sterilise when used between anal and vaginal.

Conclusion: The D3 is intensely amazing and a dildo I love when I use it. As it is so intense I only fancy it sometimes, that it personal preference and others may love it all the time.
